SHELLEY MCATEE
Olin
Shelley McAtee, 46, of Olin, passed away Monday, April 17, 2017, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following a long illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 20, at Olin Community Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday April 19, at Lahey Funeral Home in Olin. Burial will be held at a later date in the Olin Cemetery.
Shelley was born Jan. 15, 1971, in Anamosa, Iowa, to Gene and Mary (Tomas) McAtee. She graduated from Tipton High School. Shelley was a member of the Olin Community Methodist Church. She was also a honorary member of the Circle J Square Dancing Club. She loved cheering on her siblings sports' activities and was an avid Hawkeye fan. She also enjoyed listening to opera music.
Those left to cherish her memories are her parents, Gene and Mary McAtee of Olin; sisters, Carol (Steve) Novey of Central City and Stacey (Richard) Connell of Colorado Springs, Colo.; brother, Mike (Juanita) McAtee of Walcott; nieces and nephews, Jonathan Cruise, Drew Bixler, Korie Bixler, Gregory Novey, McKenna Novey, Matt Voss, Katie Triska, Sarah Neilson, Thomas McAtee, Frankie Roe and Siobhan Roe; plus 12 great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Leo and Minnie Tomas; and paternal grandparents, Burl and Luna May McAtee.
