To the editor:
At the Oct. 14 mayoral forum, the warmth with which Nick AbouAssaly articulated his thoughts and feelings about the community of Marion was deftly balanced with an authoritative grasp of civic financial and budgetary issues.
Referencing his family's immigrant past, his boyhood in the Marion community and graduation from Linn-Mar High School, he went on to describe what guided his wife Christiane and him to choose to make their young family's home in Marion. The commitment and belief underscoring that decision is mirrored in two decades of volunteerism on a full spectrum of community initiatives coupled with his service as councilman for the city since July 2013.
A practicing lawyer, he is equipped to analyze and respond to the complex issues surrounding Marion's burgeoning population growth and demands for economic development. He also recognizes the importance of assessing and pursuing ongoing projects and opportunities that could significantly impact the quality of life that he values for the entire community. I heartily endorse his campaign and urge my fellow citizens to support him with their votes on Nov. 3.
