Vote John Thomas for I.C. Council

To the editor:
I have known John Thomas as a fellow board member of Friends of Hickory Hill Park for over five years.
He has shown an interest in Iowa City parks by attending parks and recreation commission meetings. He was instrumental in coordinating with northside neighbors to revitalize North Market Square, designing the site plan and shelter in a pleasing manner, thus providing a playground for Horace Mann school children and a gathering place for the northside neighborhood.
He also has been a member of the committee to upgrade Hickory Hill Park and served on the Planning and Zoning Commission from 2012-15.
Often it takes a new eye to see and act on the things that longtime residents have accepted as the normal state of affairs. He is not afraid to present new ideas to enhance Iowa City.
