Burnell, Connie Sue

Connie Sue Burnell, 68, of rural Rowley, died Friday, Aug. 6, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, at White Funeral Home in Independence. Friends may call for visitation from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

She was born Jan. 7, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Carlyle and Arlene Leona (Thompson) Mahanna. On Sept. 26, 1959, she and Keith James Burnell were married at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

Mrs. Burnell is survived by her husband and friend of 52 years, Keith Burnell of Rowley; two sons, Wesley Burnell of Rowley and Bradley (Stacy) Burnell of Tampa, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Whitney Burnell and Blake Burnell. She is also survived by one brother, Lyle (Judy) Mahanna of Golden, Mo.; and one special cousin, Dixie (Lonnie) Sweet of Homosassa, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund for the American Cancer Society has been established.
