Blake William Sandrock, 51, of Cedar Rapids, died March 14, 2014, at the Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, with family at his side.
Blake was born April 11, 1962, in Youngstown, Ohio,
the son of Ruth Ann Sandrock of Burlington, Iowa, and Dr. Austin R. Sandrock of Fountain Hills, Ariz. He attended Burlington Community District schools and graduated from Burlington High School class of 1980 and also Coe College in Cedar Rapids in 1984.
Blake was previously married to Lynette Johnson and they were the parents of a son, Nathaniel Charles Sandrock.
Blake was a teacher and coach in Port Sulfur, La., worked construction and was employed at a legal office in Cedar Rapids.
He enjoyed gardening and particularly growing tomatoes which he shared, camping, playing golf and was a Cubs fan.
Surviving him are his mother, Ruth Ann; his father, Austin (wife, Carole); son, Nate; brother, Todd (Sandy); niece, Jennifer Wolfe (Dan) and nephews, David, Eric and Jacob Sandrock.
Blake was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 1221 Park Ave., Burlington, where a memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 22, with lunch following at the church.
A memorial has been established for First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Youth Group. As a teenager, Blake was an active member of the Youth Group's Clown Ministry.
Inurnment will be at a later date at Winterset Cemetery in Winterset.
