Jean Holtz Sievers, 95, died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017, at Pinicon Place in Anamosa following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Anamosa, with interment in the Wyoming Cemetery. Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. at the church. The Rev. Surviving are three children, James (Carol), North Platte, Neb., Judy (Al) Albers, Nevada, and Jerry (Christine), Anamosa; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and sister, Leah Oppedahl, Story City.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Ronald Holtz and Melvin Sievers; and her sister, Lois Ridout.
Jean Irene Huffman was born Dec. 23, 1921, in Wyoming, Iowa. She was the daughter of James and Bessie Hulbert Huffman. Jean graduated from Wyoming High School in 1939. She married Ronald Holtz on May 18, 1941, at Zion Lutheran Church, Wyoming. The couple owned school buses and were the contracted transportation provider for Wyoming schools. They purchased a resort on Otter Tail Lake in Minnesota and named it Holtz Resort. They worked in the summer at the resort and then would return to Wyoming and Anamosa in the winter. Jean worked at Mae Amilia Gift Shop, which they later purchased and operated as RonJeans Gifts. They also owned Mickey's Model Shop. Ron preceded her in death in 1979. Jean married Melvin Sievers on May 29, 1983. Melvin preceded her in death in July 2004.
