CEDAR RAPIDS -- John Dorfler, vice president and business banking manager at Wells Fargo Bank, has been named market president for Wells Fargo in Cedar Rapids.
Dorfler takes over market president duties from Mark Long, who will retire at the end of the month after more than 30 years with the company.
Long started his career with Wells Fargo Bank as a management trainee in Des Moines. He became president for Wells Fargo Bank in Cedar Rapids in 1998. He serves on the board of Priority One, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cedar Rapids, Junior Achievement and the Downtown District's SSMID.
Long is a past board member of the Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce and United Way of East Central Iowa.
“Mark has been an outstanding leader whose impact has been felt both within our business and in the local community,” said Scott Johnson, regional president for Wells Fargo in Iowa and Illinois. “We wish him well in retirement, and we welcome John to his new role.”
Dorfler, who will transition into his new role this month, has been a business banking manager for Wells Fargo Bank since 2002. He joined the company as a credit analyst in 1995 and has spent most of his career with Wells Fargo Bank in Cedar Rapids. In his new role, he will report to John Stavnes, who heads business banking for Wells Fargo Bank in Eastern Iowa and western Illinois.
“John has a passion around community and is a proven leader dedicated to the success of our customers,” Stavnes said. “I'm confident that as market president, he will do a tremendous job in leading our local team in its efforts to support the Cedar Rapids community through volunteerism and the company's charitable giving.”
A graduate of Buena Vista University, Dorfler majored in finance and banking. In the community, he serves as a board member for Waypoint Kids Inc. He also is a past board member for Waypoint and Big Brothers Big Sisters. He also served as a finance committee member for MidAmerica Housing Partnership.
