Dong Pal Park, 92, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Oct. 9, 2015, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids, officiated by Pastor Han Ho Kim. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Dong Pal Park was born Jan. 20, 1923, in North Korea to parents Bong Soon and Duk Choi Park. He married Soon He Chong in November 1953 in Taegu, South Korea. To this union, five children were born.
Mr. and Mrs. Park emigrated to the United States in 1990.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Soon Hee; son, Sang Won Park and wife Eun A Lee of Chicago; four daughters, Hyun Sook Park of Cedar Rapids, Hyun Sun Park of South Korea, Hyun Jun Park of South Korea and Hyo Jung Park and husband Byung Park of Cedar Rapids; as well as 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Ye Won Park; two brothers, Dong Gu Park and Dong Hyun Park; and sister, Ok Sil Park.
