Mann, Robert Gene
Robert Gene Mann, 86, of Marion, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, at Northbrook Manor in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion, with military rites by American Legion Post 298 of Marion. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Private burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mary; two children, Linda (George) Davison of Cedar Rapids and John (Louann) Mann of Hiawatha; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson, Christopher “C.J.” Mann.
Bob was born June 10, 1924, in Marion, the son of Ivan A. and Irene (Campbell) Mann. On March 10, 1946, Bob was united in marriage to Mary J. Svoboda at First Presbyterian Church in Marion. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Bob worked as an inspector for Kwik-Way Manufacturing, retiring in 1986 after 40 years of service. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Marion and was past commander of American Legion Post 298 of Marion.
