DONALD OCHELTREE
Mason City
Donald Ernest Ocheltree, 95, of Mason City, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017, at Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City. Funeral Mass: 2 p.m.
Tuesday, Aug. 22, at St. Matthew Catholic Parish
in Cedar Rapids, with visitation one hour before
the service. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids,
at a later date.
Donald was born May 3, 1922, the son of Bryson and Libbie (Ulch) Ocheltree, in Solon, Iowa. He graduated from Solon High School in 1939. On June 17, 1947, he was married to Phyllis Weichman at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Newhall, Iowa. Donald worked at Barnes Duluth Shipyard in Duluth, Minn., from 1942 to 1945. He later worked as a welder, foreman and an industrial engineer for Cherry-Burrell in Cedar Rapids from 1945 to 1984.
Donald had been a longtime member of St. Matthew Catholic Parish. He greatly enjoyed golfing, lawn work and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Ocheltree; two sons, Gary (Isabelle) Ocheltree and Craig (Evelyn) Ocheltree; four grandchildren, Scott (Katie), Tim (Maria), Eric (Megan) and Matthew; two great-grandchildren, Dori and Emery; sister, Bonnie; and brother, Verne.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Buss; and parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Matthew's School, 2244 First Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402, in memory of Donald.
