Haas, Lorraine
Lorraine Haas, 83, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church, by Father Dennis Juhl. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where a rosary will be held at 7 p.m., and from noon to 1 p.m. at the church on Wednesday. Burial: Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Carol Lappe of Cedar Rapids, James (Deborah) Haas of Phoenix, Ariz., Donna (Terry) Peck of Cedar Rapids and Lori (Donny Bruce) Barnett of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Andrea (Mike Winders) Lappe, Melissa (Brad) McNeese, Kate (Michael Polen) Haas, Donald Bruce, Molly Haas, Kelsey Lown, Ashtin (Kent) Schmitz and Nicholas Haas; great-grandchildren, Emma Bruce, Aidan Winders, Stevana McNeese, Ryan Winders and Jema Bruce; and many nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; her son-in-law, Steve Barnett; and three brothers.
Born April 3, 1929, in Jones County, Iowa, Lorraine was the daughter of Joseph and Grace (Stevenson) McDonald. She graduated from Anamosa High School and Hamilton Business College and worked for 21 years at Rockwell Collins.
Lorraine was a member of St. Ludmila Catholic Church and enjoyed spending time with her family as well as doing crossword puzzles and reading short stories.
