Timmerman won't return to Hawks

Oct. 4, 2013 3:20 pm
IOWA CITY -- University of Iowa women's basketball coach Lisa Bluder announced Friday that forward Kayla Timmerman will not return to the team this season due to personal reasons.
A 6-foot-3 forward and a native of Wayzata, Minn., Timmerman averaged 4.5 minutes, 1.3 points, and one rebound in 26 games off the bench as a freshman last season.
She figured to be in the mix for the starting center position with the graduation of Morgan Johnson. Her absence means the Hawkeyes will have one experienced returning post, Bethany Doolittle.
“I really want to thank all the coaches and staff for giving me this opportunity,” said Timmerman. “I also want to thank the fans; there are no fans like Hawkeye fans. I especially want to thank my team for always supporting me. Once a Hawkeye… always a Hawkeye.”
