Sandersfeld, Russell R. 'Russ'
Russell R. “Russ” Sandersfeld, 79, of Amana, died suddenly on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at his restaurant following an apparent heart attack. Funeral services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walford. Burial: First Lutheran Cemetery, rural Conroy. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is in charge of arrangements.
Russell will be dearly missed by his wife of 58 years, Mary Ellen; his children, Randal Sandersfeld of rural Marengo, Vickie Brackney (Chris) of Iowa City, Dan Sandersfeld (Wendy) of Amana, Michael Sandersfeld (Heidi) of Amana and Jason Sandersfeld (Sarah) of Shueyville; nine grandchildren, Joshua Sims (Beth) of Iowa City, Jessica Sims of West Branch, Kaitlin Sims of Iowa City, Audrey and Graham Sandersfeld of Amana, Gunther and Ellery Sandersfeld of Amana and Garrett and Wyatt Sandersfeld of Shueyville; and two great-grandchildren, Martin Sims of Iowa City and Hayden Sims-Wallace of West Branch. Also surviving are two sisters, Dolores of Williamsburg and Laverna (Merlin) of Williamsburg; and a brother, Robert (Annette) of Amana.
Russ was preceded in death by his father, Rudolph; his mother, Dora; and a brother, Victor.
Russell and his family owned and operated The Colony Village Restaurant, Williamsburg.
A memorial fund has been established.
