MARY ANN DEVLIN

Mary Ann Rose Devlin, 78, of Prairieburg, died Thursday, May 8, 2014, at her home. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 12, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Prairieburg, conducted by Father Dennis Cahill. The family will greet friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 11, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery, Prairieburg.
Survivors include her children, Mike "Wheels" (Diane) Devlin of Cedar Rapids, Marlys Devlin (Ray Goebel) of Cedar Rapids and Sheila "Gus" (Eric) Tye of Central City; five grandchildren, Crystal and Cody Devlin, Alexis, Ethan and Brennan Tye; and siblings, Patsy Holub and Monica Carpenter, both of Central City, and Jack Cashman of Van Meter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lewis; special uncle, Vince Evers; and special nephew, Joe "Doc" Carpenter.
Mary Ann was born Sept. 15, 1935, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Joseph and Christina (Evers) Cashman. She married Lewis J. Devlin on May 18, 1957. Lewis died July 16, 1988. Mary Ann operated the Prairieburg Post Office for 31 years and held various other jobs.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Altar and Rosary Society and Catholic Church in Prairieburg. She was also a member of the "Good Ole' Boys" where she enjoyed organizing the parades.
