Manwiller, Floyd L.
Floyd L. Manwiller, 99, of Heritage Nursing and Rehab, died there on Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, after a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Dan Wiersema will officiate. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Floyd (Mary) of Ames and Eldon (Marie) of Madison, Ala.; three daughters, Reta (Jack) Meier of Cedar Rapids, Evanell (Ralph) Conner of Winslow, Ariz., and Edna (Clifford) Gilleland of Geneso, Ill.; and one sister, Anna Mae Henry of Marshalltown. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren,
six great-great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Betty Ann; four brothers; one sister; and a grandson, Jack Meier.
Floyd was born Feb. 15, 1910, in Maquoketa, the son of Elzia and Effie Stickley Manwiller. He married G. Kathryn Staley on July 4, 1933, in Riceville. She died in 2000. Floyd farmed for several years and later was employed at the Cedar Rapids Water Department, where he retired from after many years of service. Floyd was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, wood working, baking and gardening. Floyd liked to tinker and could fix almost anything. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by both his family and friends.
Memorial donations may be given to St. Luke's Hospice in Floyd's name.
