Anti-government views similar to anarchy

After falling over each other to be more anti-Obama than the next, the Republican candidates are playing a dangerous game of one-upmanship to be against government in general.
Their thesis seems to be that with less and less government, the individual can rise and develop one's full potential. Explain to me how this is much different from the anarchist's point of view.
A notable key factor in this debate is the point when one asks, “What part of government should be eliminated?” Relatively vague stands on the reduction or elimination of valid aspects of government such as protecting our health or supporting education are trotted out. “Gut the EPA!” “Demolish the Education Department!” One can fantasize seeing these fanatics who hope to take over the government waving the black flag of anarchy at the gates of the White House, Congress and the Supreme Court.
Maybe cooler heads will prevail, and the silly anti-everything mood will subside, and civil discourse will return to our political arena. In the meantime, this burst of raw energy and bald ambition is certainly entertaining.
