Shirley Mae Leon, 77, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017 at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House. A celebration of life gathering will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, in The Avacentre at Brosh Chapel, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, Cedar Rapids.
Shirley was born Oct. 10, 1939, in Clinton, the daughter of John and Bernice (Witt) Fenzel. She married Royce Gene Leon in November 1957 in Clinton. She was an avid bowler, liked camping with friends, and was a member of the Red Hat Society. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids.
Shirley is survived by her children, Blake (Julie) Leon, Rhonda Leon and Traci (Kevin); grandchildren, April (Eric), Blake (Madeline), Derika, Tiffany (John), Connor, Derek and Skylar; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Nancy Housenga and Vera Nordt; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; daughter, Tammy; grandson, Chase; three brothers; and one sister.
Memorials may be directed to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Shirley's name.
