Larry Joe Miers, 78, of Marion, went to be with our Lord on Sept. 15, 2017. A celebration will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Spirit of Faith Family Church by Pastor Jay Eberly. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids.
Larry is survived by his wife, Nancy; son, Bryce (Charity) Miers; daughter, Karen (Michael) Tippett; three grandchildren; sister, Lucy Terwilliger; and brother, Willis (Shirley) Miers.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronald Miers.
Larry was born Sept. 6, 1939, in Knoxville, the son of Ancil and Wilma Ivers Miers. He graduated Kirkwood Community College and served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962. He married Nancy Quellhorst on Sept. 2, 1962, in Junction City, Kan. Larry worked for many years at OHE Industries.
He was a member of Harmony Hawks Barbershop Chorus and the Quartet Tune Up. He was an active member of Spirit of Faith Family Church. Larry was a Civil War buff and loved to camp. He had a large collection of rubber duckies.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. Please make checks payable to Nancy Miers, as she and the family plan to direct any funds received toward Spirit of Faith Family Church projects.
