Second-String Sportswriters Football Selections

We've got faces for radio and voices for the newspaper. This week a few of us SourceMedia Group sportswriters will make the same selections on our multiple websites as the stars who appear in the Saturday morning version of The Gazette. Here's our chance to shine:

• Iowa 42, Indiana 14 – Say hello to John Mellencamp for me in Bloomington, boys.
• Nebraska 35, Iowa State 14 – Does it bother you, Cyclone fans, that the coach that spurned you has a national champion contender?
• Utah 21, TCU 17 – Sorry, major conference elitists, but teams like these should have a fair chance to be in the national title game.
• Last week: 3-0; Overall: 17-10

SCOTT DOCHTERMAN

• Iowa 49, Indiana 20 - I wonder if Steve Alford's bobblehead will be on display at Memorial Stadium.
• Nebraska 28, Iowa State 27 - The end result will be the same as 85 of the other 104 meetings despite the score.
• Utah 30, TCU 24 - It could be the final meeting between the two until that all-important Independence Bowl match-up in 2013 featuring the Pac-10's Utes and Big East's Horned Frogs.
• Last week: 2-1; Overall: 15-12

JEFF LINDER

• Iowa 34, Indiana 17 – UI and IU. Isn't that special?
• Nebraska 40, Iowa State 21 – Nebraska could win via blowout. Or Iowa State could pull a shocker. I'll be a pansy and go somewhere in between.
• Utah 27, TCU 24 – Sorry for the bad news, BCS-lovers, but both of these teams are legit.
• Last week: 3-0; Overall: 21-6

• Iowa 49, Indiana 7 – Hoosier Daddy?
• Nebraska 20, Iowa State 10 – In-laws live in Nebraska. They're moving to Iowa. About time they wised up.
• TCU 42, Utah 38 – What are two teams I will not see on TV until bowl season?
