Holub, Stanley F.
Stanley F. Holub, 89, of Coggon, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at home. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Catholic Church, Coggon, by Father Wayne Droessler. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Central City, with a Scripture service beginning at 7 p.m. Burial: St. Joseph's Cemetery, Prairieburg.
Survivors include his wife, Pat; his children, Wayne (Paula) Holub of Coggon, Patty (Grant) Wilken of Marion, Suzanne (Jim) Tresnak of Cedar Rapids, Maynard (Diane) Holub of Cedar Rapids, Carmen (Kevin) Casey of Martelle, Tammy (Mike) Hansen of Olin and Ben (Marge) Holub of Prairieburg; 26 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, LaVern; his son, Carl Holub; and his brother, Arthur (Louise) Holub.
Stanley was born Nov. 13, 1920, in Prairieburg, the son of Frank B. and Helen (Houser) Holub. He married LaVern Schockemoehl on Nov. 22, 1945, in Worthington, Iowa. LaVern died Oct. 11, 1974. Stanley married Pat Covington on May 26, 1979, in Central City. He was a lifelong farmer in the Prairieburg area, and worked at Prairiemoon Ballroom for 18 years. Stanley was on the board of directors for Prairieburg Telephone Co. for 52 years and was an insurance agent and on the board of directors for Bohemian Farmers Mutual for 50 years. He was also on the Alburnett Farm Services board of directors. Stanley was a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus, a trustee for St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Prairieburg, and a member of the Central City Co-op board.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Mercy, Dr. Marc Wilkinson, and Dr. Ersin Atay for all their care of Stanley.
