Inappropriate sexual touching incident reported at University of Iowa dorm

The University of Iowa is looking into a report of inappropriate touching that allegedly occurred over the weekend.

According to a media release, UI Police received information from University Housing that a dorm resident reported sexual misconduct. The victim reported he or she was touched inappropriately on Saturday in an east side residence hall.

The victim and the suspect were acquaintances, according to the release, and the University is investigating the complaint. A student or employee found to be in violation of University of Iowa's sexual misconduct policies faces punishment that can include expulsion or termination, according to the release.

Last week the University of Iowa Police issued a crime alert after a sexual assault was reported near the Iowa River.
