Mildred D. Klavon, 97, of Geneseo, Ill., died Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, at Long Term Care Unit of Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 18, at First Lutheran Church, Geneseo. The Rev. Lynn Bergren will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge, Ill. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Geneseo Chapel, Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, 225 E. Park St., Geneseo.
Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church, Geneseo.
Mildred Abramson was born Oct. 21, 1918, in Moline, Ill., the daughter of John Oscar and Ida Marie (Dahlgren Blixt) Abramson. She was educated in the Cambridge area and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1936. Mildred married Howard J. Klavon on Aug. 12, 1946, in St. John's Lutheran Church in Edford Township, Henry County, Ill. He died on Aug. 8, 2004. Mildred was a homemaker.
Memberships included First Lutheran Church, Geneseo, as well as the Cambridge Lutheran Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for 22 years. She had also been a member of W.E.L.C.A. of the church and had been a former member of Henry County Home Extension. Her hobbies included genealogy, cooking, traveling and sewing.
Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Boelens, Moline; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Marta Klavon, Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Jennifer Klavon, Kate Klavon, Kris Fields and Kirk Boelens; and seven great-grandchildren, Michael, Ashlee, Tiffany, Nathan, Zachary, Audrey and Nikki.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister, Marie Rogel.
