Fleming, Michael F.
Michael F. Fleming, 68, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died at his home in Southport, N.C., on July 17, 2011. A memorial service will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Fairfield, Conn., at 10 a.m. Aug. 10, followed by a reception.
Michael was born in Boston, Mass., on Feb. 19, 1943, son of the late Charles J. Fleming and Alice Daggett Fleming. He grew up in Dorchester, Mass., where he graduated from Cathedral High School. He was a graduate of St. Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and attended Catholic University in Washington, D.C.
Michael is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kathy Fleming; and two children, Kathleen A. Fleming of Mount Vernon, N.Y., and Michael Fleming Jr. of San Diego, Calif. He is also survived by his brother, Charles (Chip) Fleming of Hull, Mass.; and nieces, Aleisa Dunn and Annemarie Stenfors.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Peter Fleming and Mark Fleming.
Michael enjoyed a successful career in industrial sales management and retired in 2002. Michael's family was the center of his life. He was an avid sailor for 20 years, cruising on Long Island Sound, the Grand Lake of the Cherokees, and Lake Michigan.
