Mease, Tayah Anne
Tayah Anne Mease, 10, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday afternoon, Oct. 19, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital from complications of hydranencephaly. Funeral Mass: 2 p.m. Friday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church by Father Christopher Podhajsky. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Papich-Kuba Janeba Chapel West, 1604 J St. SW, where a vigil service begins at 6 p.m.
Tayah is survived by her mother, Roxy Ellis; sister, Taylor Metz, Cedar Rapids; maternal grandparents, Melvin and Sue Ellis, Cedar Rapids; maternal great-grandparents, Bill and Marie Ellis, Viola Ellis and Eveard and Mildred Hartson, all of Cedar Rapids; aunt, Christine Miller, and cousins, Raven, Madison and Damiya, all of Cedar Rapids; also many aunts, uncles and cousins; her father, Michael Mease; half brothers and sisters, Jordan, Brayden, Daytynn and Kailee; and paternal grandparents, Cliff and Pam Easley and family.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandfather, Charles Ellis; and great-uncle, Eveard Hartson.
Tayah was born Jan. 22, 1999, in Cedar Rapids and was a fourth grader at Truman Elementary School. She had been a poster child for Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2272. Tayah loved the Cedar Rapids Kernels, Hannah Montana, the Wizard of Oz, swimming and going to school.
Tayah's family would like to thank the New Horizons staff for their special care of Tayah, Truman Elementary School and a special thanks to her nurse, Tami Davis.
A memorial fund has been established in Tayah's name.
