Frauenholtz, Dorothy Mae
Dorothy Mae Frauenholtz, 81, of West Branch, died Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Crestview Nursing and Rehab Center in West Branch. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Bethany Lutheran Church, West Branch. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 tonight at Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. Burial will be in West Branch Cemetery.
Dorothy was born May 18, 1928, in Eudora, Kan., the daughter of William and Lena Richtermeier Koehler. After graduating from high school in Eudora she joined her sister Emma Rogers in Iowa City and on Nov. 27, 1948, she married Raymond G. Frauenholtz at Zion Lutheran Church. They made their home in West Branch in 1954.
She enjoyed gardening and providing child care for many kids in the community as well as her own kids and grandchildren. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her eight children, Wayne Frauenholtz and his wife, Jane, of West Branch, Elaine Brown and her husband, Roger, of Solon, Allen Frauenholtz and his wife, Danette, of Iowa City, Ed Frauenholtz of West Branch, Dean Frauenholtz and his wife, Jean, of West Branch, Rita Jamison and her husband, Larry, of Iowa City, Judy Frauenholtz and her husband, Gary Appleby, of West Branch, and Jean Smith and her husband, Craig, of Mount Vernon; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Pearl Taylor of Sunnyside, Wash., and Martha Ralston of Overland Park, Kan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; infant son, Dennis; her brothers, William, John and Ralph; and her sisters, Emma and Freda.
A memorial fund has been established.
