Harry "Kent" Ulrich, 64, of Fort Dodge, passed away Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at the Marian Home. The memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at Gunderson Funeral Chapel in Fort Dodge. The visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday before the service at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.
Kent was born in Bellefonte, Pa., on Aug. 7, 1949, to Harry and Rose (Saxon) Ulrich. He grew up in Springville, Iowa and graduated from Springville High School. He then went on to attend Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids. He married Mary Jean McKee on Nov.r 25, 1970. They made their home in Fort Dodge when Kent was transferred to Fort Dodge Limestone.
He was a former member of the Springville United Methodist Church and a member of the Rifle & Pistol Club in Fort Dodge. He loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. Kent cared for each of the grandkids from birth to beginning school. During those years many special bonds were formed. Jace and grandpa loved to watch movies together and share stories during Kent's stay at the Marian Home. Those times will be greatly missed. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors.
Kent is survived by his wife, Mary Jean; sons, Chris (Julie) Ulrich and Nick Ulrich; grandchildren, Brielle, Sabrynn and Jace Ulrich; his sister, Patricia Postle of Minnesota; his brother, Tom (Robin) Ulrich of Center Point; and his sister-in-law, Pam (Merlin) Brown of Olin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Mike Ulrich; and brothers-in-law, Mike Postle and Larry McKee.
