Scales, Taylor
Taylor Scales, 87, of Meadowview Memory Care Center, Cedar Rapids, died at St. Luke's on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009, following a sudden illness. Visitation will be at the Koehler Funeral Home, 304 E. Main St., Boonville, Ind., on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Ebenezer General Baptist Church in Warrick County, Ind. Burial: Bethabara Cemetery, Tennyson, Ind.
Maudie was born on March 24, 1922, in Gibson County, Ind., the daughter of the late Edward West Fenicle and Tillie Nalley Fenicle. She graduated from Folsomville High School and was united in marriage to Owen Elbert Taylor on Aug. 31, 1940. Owen and Maudie had two sons, Larry and Bruce Taylor. Owen died on March 13, 1945, in the service to his country on Iwo Jima. Maudie married Isaac Woodrow Scales on April 14, 1963, in Warrick County, Ind.
Survivors include: children, Larry (Barb) Taylor of Cedar Rapids, Charles Scales of Warrick County, Ind., Wanda Scales (Richard) Bogard of Evansville, Ind., and Sharon Scales (Jim) Wolfram of Las Vegas, Nev.; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Richards, Brown County, Ind.; sister-in-law, Anice Scales Howard of Lynnville, Ind.; and many nieces and nephews.
Her parents; four sisters, Vivian Logsdon, Marcella Richards, Edna LaPorte, Margery Pierce; her son, Bruce Taylor; grandson, Kerry Taylor; husbands Owen Taylor and Woodrow Scales all preceded her in death.
Her greatest enjoyment in life was to spend time with her family. Maudie was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed.
