Larry R. Schlehuber, 60, of Cedar Rapids, died at his home on Monday, April 28, 2014, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Memorial services at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 3, at Bethany Lutheran Church. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Karen; a son, Eric of Des Moines; two daughters, Elizabeth (Ryan) Kreher and Laura (Chris) James, all of Cedar Rapids; three brothers, Gary (Nancy) of Rockford, Ill., Jim of Omaha, Neb., and Michael (Chudar) of Dallas, Texas; and one sister, Nancie (Larry) Brown of Rockford, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Larry was born Feb. 14, 1954, in Rockford, Ill., the son of Robert and Catherine Lange Schlehuber. He graduated from Rockford Boylan High School, Loras College and was a charter member of Sigma Phi Epsilon. He received his master's degree from Iowa State University and married Karen L. Bolinder on Sept. 4, 1982, in Marion.
Larry worked at Rockwell Collins as a program manager for over 36 years.
He was a faithful and active member of Bethany Lutheran Church, where he served as an elder, usher and was on the Stewardship and Video Committee. Aside from his family and faith, his biggest love was golf. He was able to realize his dream of attending a practice round of the Masters this month.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Bethany Lutheran or to Unity Point Hospice in Larry's name.
