Metz, Shirley Patricia

Shirley Patricia Metz, 74, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services: 1:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, conducted by the Rev Del Bear. Family will greet friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Shirley was born April 23, 1939, in Marion, Iowa, daughter of Albert and Freida (Kellenberger) Schoettmer. She married William Paul Metz on June 7, 1957, in Vinton.

Survivors include her husband, William Metz of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Bonnie (Daniel) Wagaman of Dysart; four sons, Douglas Metz of Cedar Rapids, Scott Metz and Steven (Jodi) Metz, both of Blairstown, and Ronald (Shelly Konicek) Metz of Middle Amana; seven grandchildren, Curtis (Julie Kaneyuki) Wagaman, Jill (Mitch) Allen, Kourtney Metz, Jory (Megan Pohlman), Ashley, Tristan and Emma Metz; and siblings, Delores (Sam) Lewis of Center Point, Robert (Kay) Schoettmer of San Diego and John (Jackie) Schoettmer of Vinton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Ernie and Albert “Sonny.”

Per Shirley's request please dress casually.
