Michele Land-Coats
MICHELE LAND-COATS
Cedar Rapids
Michele Land-Coats was granted her angel wings unexpectedly on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Michele was born on Nov. 7, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Jim and Lillian Jensen and the late James Usher.
She lived and raised her children in Cedar Rapids until she met the love of her life, the late Patricia Coats, and moved to Alburnett. After 24 years, Pat and Michele were married on Feb. 28, 2010, and happily lived the rest of their lives in Cedar Rapids.
Family, friends and Facebook were Michele's passion and delight. She loved spending time in the sun and looked for any excuse for a celebration. She was known by many as Mama Michele or Gma because, to her, if you were a friend, you were family. She saw the good in everyone and for that she was loved by many.
She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her loving parents; children, Brad (Tammy) Coats of Alburnett, Jesse (Emily) Land of Cedar Rapids and Bracken (Jerime) Mitchell of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, Patricia Coats; and her adoring sister, Melissa Sheetz.
Family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories State Room in Cedar Rapids. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 9, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.
Memorials, if desired, may be directed to the family and sent in care of Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, 4200 First Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402.
The family would like to welcome relatives and friends to join them to continue the celebration of Michele's life after the funeral services at Shawnee Park pavilion.
