McFarlane, Clyde Duane
Clyde Duane McFarlane, 84, died Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at Maple Crest Manor, Fayette. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 28, 2010, at Bethel Presbyterian Church, West Union, with interment at Lima Cemetery, Lima. Officiant is the Rev. Galen Smith. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the S.K. Rogers Funeral Home, 120 Main, Fayette, and one hour before the services Saturday at the church.
Clyde is survived by his wife; five daughters, Linda (special friend Don Reisinger) of Lawton, Okla., Sandra (Brian) Gossman Ames, Sharon (Kyle) Comer of Lone Tree, Tracy (Dale) Elsbernd of Calmar, and Paula (David) Shott of Clermont; four sons, Dale (Judy) McFarlane of Fayette, Joy McFarlane of Fayette, Robert (Joyce) McFarlane of Randalia, and Paul McFarlane of Cedar Rapids; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Violet Thompson of Springfield, Mo., and Barbara Lansgaard of Pensacola Fla.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, JD McFarlane; two granddaughters, Amy and Melissa McFarlane; and a great-grandson, Brady McFarlane.
Clyde Duane McFarlane son of James and Polly (Lambert) McFarlane, was born Oct. 30, 1925, on the family farm in rural Fayette, Iowa. He graduated from Fayette High School.
Clyde was united in marriage to Thelma (Lansgaard) on Aug. 22, 1946, in the Marion Lutheran Church in Gunder, recently celebrating 64 wonderful years of marriage The couple lived and farmed in the Fayette area their entire lives. It was only until the fall of 2008 when Clyde retired from farming. As well, Clyde drove truck, hauling feed and livestock for Heying Firm Inc.
Clyde was a longtime member of Bethel Presbyterian Church in West Union.
