Fitzpatrick, Marguerite M. 'Judy'
Marguerite M. “Judy” Fitzpatrick, 86, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Jan. 8, 2011, in Cold Spring, N.Y., after a long illness.
She was born Feb. 29, 1924, in Anamosa, Iowa, to James T. and Renie “Rena” (Tarbox) Fitzpatrick. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas W. and Mary Ellen (Brennan) Fitzpatrick. Her maternal grandparents were Samuel L. and Elnora M. (Knight) Tarbox. Her paternal grandfather was born in Iowa in 1846 when Iowa was still a territory, before it received statehood.
Marguerite married Ray C. Campbell, a highly decorated World War II veteran and POW. They had one daughter, Linda (Campbell) Gallello. “Judy” worked through the Jane Boyd Community House and served several years as an elderly home visitor. She called on senior citizens and helped them with many aspects of their lives, including tax returns, health care and financial problems. Many of the senior citizens found a true friend in Judy; she gave of her time, talent and heart in attempting to improve the quality of their lives.
Marguerite is survived by her daughter, Linda (Joe) Gallello of Cold Spring, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Lori (Gallello) Mayo of Cold Spring, N.Y., and Michael D'Agostino of Monroe, N.Y.; and four great-grandchildren, Christian and Kyle Mayo and Michael and Dylan D'Agostino. She is also survived by three brothers, Edward R. Fitzpatrick of Cedar Rapids, and Thomas A. and Donie L. Fitzpatrick, and two sisters, Barbara (Fitzpatrick) Driscoll and Shirley (Fitzpatrick) May, all of Sun City West, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, James B., Irving J., Leo L. Fitzpatrick; and a half brother, James T. Fitzpatrick Jr.
Her remains will be buried in Cedar Rapids, with a memorial at a later date.
“Judy” will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
