Second-String Sportswriters Football Selections

We've got faces for radio and voices for the newspaper. This week a few of us SourceMedia Group sportswriters will make the same selections on our multiple websites as the stars who appear in the Saturday morning version of The Gazette. Here's our chance to shine:

• Iowa 31, Northwestern 14 – The Hawks are due.
• Colorado 28, Iowa State 21 – Dan Hawkins is gone. That's gotta help the Buffs, right?
• Notre Dame 30, Utah 27 – Tough for Utah to come off that shellacking from last week.

SCOTT DOCHTERMAN

• Iowa 35, Northwestern 19 - If not now, then when?
• Iowa State 38, Colorado 18 - In quoting Minnesota's (I'm mean Colorado's) former coach, "This ain't intermurals, brother."
• Utah 30, Notre Dame 21 - Notre Dame will overlook Utah to prepare for Army and its 25-game winning streak at Yankee Stadium next week, according to Beano Cook.
• Last week: 2-1; Overall: 17-13

JEFF LINDER

• Iowa 30, Northwestern 21 – You'd think the Hawks would come ready to play. They'd better.
• Iowa State 35, Colorado 34 – Will the Buffaloes fold? Or will they fight?
• Utah 44, Notre Dame 21 – Utah got beat bad last week. Notre Dame is bad, period.
• Last week: 2-1; Overall: 23-7

K.J. PILCHER

• Iowa 17, Northwestern 13 – Is the season over yet? I want it to be so I can end in a tie for first. That and get drunk on New Year's Eve.
• Iowa State 42, Colorado 24 – At least the game is in Boulder so the Buffaloes' walk of shame will be a short one.
• Utah 73, Notre Dame 10 – Who would have guessed Irish fans would be longing for the days of Bob Davie. 
• Last week: 3-0; Overall: 23-7
