Lnenicka, Collette L. Cooper
Collette L. Cooper Lnenicka, born Jan. 22, 1949, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, June 12, 2010. Collette was a mother, wife, nana, sister, daughter, aunt, cousin and friend. God graced us with His presence when He freed Collette from her pain and reunited her in heaven into the loving arms of her son, Jim; her mom, Bessie; and her dad, Byron. Collette leaves behind a legacy of selflessness and caring, which she passed on to her daughter, Suzanne and husband Dave.
Collette had a passion for living life, focusing on relationships and being surrounded by those she loved and cared for. She enjoyed gardening, baking, surfing the Internet, “wandering,” preserving memories through photography and spending time with her granddaughter, Prestley. She had an eye for beautiful things and enjoyed antiques and lovely things both old and new. Most of all she enjoyed having people around her.
Collette fought the hardest battle of her life over the past year and a half, against her opponent of cancer. God saw that she was tiring and guided her into His arms to relieve her from her struggle.
For the past 13 years, Collette and her best friend, Dave have shared their love and passions together. She leaves behind her daughter, Suzanne Lnenicka; husband, Dave Johnson; granddaughter, Prestley; her mother, Alice; sisters, Connie, Fran (Regis), Rhonda (Jim) and Michelle; and brothers Bob and Michael (Lucy); nieces and nephews; Dave's children, Jamie (Abe), Colene (Dave), Brian (Jodie) and Beth (Todd); as well as eight grandchildren; and her four dogs, Chewy, Button, Lexi Lou and Daisy Mae.
Celebration of Collette's life will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, with visitation starting at 5 p.m. until service time.
The family would like to send a special thank you to St. Luke's Hospice for their kind words and loving care in Collette's final hours.
A memorial fund has been established in her name for the benefit of Prestley.
