Dvorsky 'a real leader' in Iowa Senate

I want Iowans to know that state Sen. Bob Dvorsky of Coralville is a real leader when it comes to making government more accountable and transparent.
Last spring, Sen. Dvorsky worked to save nearly a quarter of a billion dollars by reorganizing state government and downsizing the number of state employees. As a result, the size of Iowa government hit a 16-year low this year.
Sen. Dvorsky also supported an online budget database so that Iowans can see exactly how their tax dollars are spent. He cut his own pay and banned taxpayer-funded, out-of-state travel for legislators.
Fighting for greater transparency, Sen. Dvorsky pushed hard for tax credit reforms and tougher campaign finance regulations.
The tax credit reforms will provide greater oversight and will ensure more tax credits go to Iowa's Main Street small businesses. The legislation is projected to save $115 million this year alone.
The new campaign finance law will prevent unregulated cash from Wall Street corporations, shadowy organizations and foreigners from drowning out the voices of Iowans.
By increasing accountability and transparency, Sen. Dvorsky is making government work for the people by keeping them informed. I want Iowans to know he fought to increase accountability and transparency in state government, ensuring Iowans plenty of sunshine for years to come.
