Fiala, Susan E.
Susan E. Fiala, 65, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at her home from an abrupt illness. Per her wishes, there will be no services. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne; sons, J. C. (Laura) Fiala of Cedar Rapids and Brian Fiala of Des Moines; grandchildren, Simon J. and Luca L. Fiala; mother, Patricia (Dell) Norman of Sedona, Ariz.; brother. Tom (Den) Fusso of Vancouver, Wash.; and sister, Marybeth (Marty) Rose of Skokie, Ill.
Her father preceded Susan in death.
Susan E. Fiala was born May 18, 1947, in Milwaukee, WIis., the daughter of Edward and Patricia (Neumann) Fusso. She attended St. Ursula Academy in Cincinnati, Ohio and then Kent State. In 1970, she married Wayne Joseph Fiala at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Iowa City. Before retiring in 2010, Susan worked at the Social Security Administration as a senior claims representative.
Susan was an avid reader and enjoyed being a part of the Cedar Valley Rocks & Minerals Society and spending time with her grandchildren.
