Iowa DOT considering new interchange on Interstate 380 in Johnson County
Jan. 21, 2015 12:19 pm
NORTH LIBERTY - Officials with the Iowa Department of Transportation are considering a new interchange on Interstate 380 near North Liberty.
Cathy Culter of the DOT says the interchange would be installed where Forevergreen Road currently crosses over I-380 via an overpass in Johnson County.
Currently there are no interchanges on I-380 between Penn Street in North Liberty and Interstate 80, a four-mile stretch of extremely busy and often dangerous interstate.
The DOT is currently studying the idea, which likely wouldn't get funding for several years, according to Cutler.
'It has dollars programmed in fiscal year 2019,” Cutler said via email.
The project, which would cost an estimated $14.2 million, would also need approval from the Federal Highway Administration.
