A Waterloo woman injured in a motorcycle crash Monday morning has died of her injuries, officials said Tuesday.
The driver of the motorcycle, 44-year-old Francis Heim, and his wife, Tammy Heim, 37, were both taken to Allen Hospital in Waterloo after the crash, which happened around 10:45 a.m. Monday at the intersection of North Canfield and East Cedar Wapsie roads, 2 1/2 miles north of Dunkerton.
Tammy Heim was transferred to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, where she died Tuesday night.
Francis Heim told authorities he was northbound on North Canfield Road at East Cedar Wapsie Road when a white van failed to yield while entering the intersection, forcing Heim to swerve into the ditch.
The van did not stop at the scene. Anyone who may have seen a white van in the area of the crash around 10:45 a.m. Monday is asked to call the Black hawk County Sheriff's Investigative Unit at 291-2587, ext. 5123.
