Predictions on Michigan State-Iowa from across the USA
Mike Hlas Oct. 28, 2010 3:17 pm
Iowa is favored by a touchdown in Las Vegas (and Reno and Mesquite and Carson City). Excerpts from the linked predictions are included here.
Phil Steele, philsteele.com: Iowa 30-20. Iowa traditionally plays well under Ferentz off a loss and they end MSU's national title hopes here.
Lynn Henning, Detroit News: Iowa 31-23. Not only should Michigan State have a lousy time - again - trying to run Saturday, but quarterback Kirk Cousins figures to be moving at about the same pace against the Iowa pass rush as your basic Glacier National Park camper after encountering a grizzly and her cubs.
Mark Hasty, FanHouse.com: Iowa 24-20. Wisconsin had great success last week attacking Iowa's linebackers on quick pass plays. if Michigan State can do the same, we might see a truly rare thing: Iowa losing back-to-back games at Kinnick.
Mike Huguenin, Rivals.com: Iowa 24-21.
Dante Carnevale, SNY.tv: Iowa 34-28
Adam Rittenberg, ESPN.com: Iowa 27-24. Iowa knows it can't afford another loss, and the Hawkeyes match up well in several areas, namely the defensive line versus Michigan State's run game and the downfield passing game versus Michigan State's secondary. Ricky Stanzi stretches the field for two long touchdown passes and Iowa generates enough pressure on Kirk Cousins to secure a must-win game.
I will leave no stone unturned until I find someone who takes the Spartans, just for the sake of balance. Last week, the only two people I found who took Wisconsin over Iowa were from SEC markets. Check back tomorrow for more of these prognostications.
