M. Jeanne Finn passed away Nov. 27, 2014, at the age of 88 in Batavia, Ill.
Jeanne was born July 18, 1926, in Freeport, Ill., to Frances and James Pollock. Her stepfather, Richard Credicott, was a loving presence in her life. She was united in marriage to John "Jack" Finn on May 6, 1950. She and Jack lived in California before moving to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where they raised their family.
Jeanne was a wonderfully devoted mother and wife. They enjoyed a wonderful retirement in Sun Lakes and Tucson, Ariz. They had adventures in Ireland, Germany, Spain, and many states in the U.S. Jeanne loved the ocean. They returned to DeWitt, Iowa, in 2005. Here she and Jack enjoyed their church and small-town living. They moved to Batavia in 2013.
Jeanne role-modeled her faith, importance of traditions, giving back, commitment and love of family to her children and grandchildren throughout her life.
She is survived by her children, Kevin Finn (Dian), Eden Prairie, Minn., Kathleen "Casey" Clabby (Mike), St. Charles, Ill., Kelly Shadle (Joe), DeWitt, John Finn (Kristen), Urbandale, and Patrick Finn (Lisa), Marion; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack; a son, Craig, who died shortly after birth; her parents and stepfather. Jeanne's priorities in life were her husband and children.
Her deep Catholic faith was evident in the way she lived her life.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, a charity she and Jack supported for many years.
Jeanne will be laid to rest Dec. 2 after a 10:30 a.m. Mass at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 417 Sixth Ave., DeWitt, with a visitation before from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 1227 Eighth Ave., DeWitt.
