Wurr, Betty J.
Betty J. Wurr, 81, of Tipton, died Nov. 12, 2009, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. A visitation will take place Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tipton, with Father David Hitch officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Betty J. Wurr, daughter of Charles and Sophie Floring Knute, was born Nov. 9, 1928, in Carroll, Iowa. On Nov. 23, 1944, Betty was united in marriage to Vincent H. Wurr in Carroll, Iowa. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and St. Ann's Guild. Betty was a devoted homemaker.
Betty is survived by her children, Marjorie (Darrell) VandenBrink of Pekin, Ill., Sharon (Gary) Meiers of Tipton, Iowa, Patricia (Joe) Hellstern of Hudson, Fla., Tim Wurr of Tipton, Mark (Becky) Wurr of West Branch, Brian Wurr of North Liberty, David (Kris) Wurr of Garwin and Terry (Supirak) Wurr; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and brother, Charles (Lee) Knute of Boone.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Sophie Knute; husband, Vincent Wurr; son, David Wurr and his wife, Janice; daughter-in-law, Louise Wurr; half sister, Bernice Ward; and half brother, Norman Brower.
