CEDAR RAPIDS - Dean Borg of Mount Vernon, the longest-serving host in Iowa Public Television history, plans to retire as host of the weekly public affairs program 'Iowa Press” next year.
Since the show's inaugural broadcast in 1971, Borg has hosted and moderated interviews with governors, state legislators, policymakers and future presidents.
'Not only has he been an anchor for the state's longest-running public affairs television program, his measured broadcast abilities have become a fixture known to political aspirants across Iowa and beyond,” said Molly Phillips, IPTV executive director and general manager.
Although the Forest City native's last day as host is Jan. 13, after live coverage of the 2017 Condition of the State address, Borg plans to continue working on IPTV specials and live broadcasts.
His 'Iowa Press” replacement is to be named at a later date.
