MARION - Bowling is a sport many see more as a hobby or a laid back activity.
Some even believe student-athletes go out for bowling just for fun or so they are not ineligible for their next sport.
Junior Colin Gorgen bowls for other reasons.
Gorgen is a dual-sport athlete, juggling golf and bowling along with being a very talented student. He has been part of the rebuilding process for the bowling team and this is his first year on the varsity team.
The Indianas are 0-2 and led by senior Dylan Nash.
Boys' bowling has struggled a little bit in the past and Gorgen hopes to be a part of the future change. He has been bowling since freshman year and has enjoyed it ever since.
'It is fun learning how to bowl the right way,” Gorgen said.
Gorgen has a passion for the sport and he has shown that, posting a season-high 191 game this year. He really enjoys the sport because it involves a team and individual aspects.
'I bowl with my heart,” he said. 'I give it my all when I'm in the lane.”
Gorgen is very focused on this year and has high goals set for himself and the team. He tries not to worry about the score or the obstacles in his way.
He worries about just one thing.
'I'm just focused on knocking those pins down,” he said.
