A Michigan man was taken to Mercy Medical Center after a hunting accident in rural Tama County.
Adam Post, 33, of Howell, Mich., was struck in the face and chest by pellets fired from the shotgun of his hunting partner, Leas Hill, 56 of Salem, Va.
The two were at a hunting preserve just west of Belle Plaine on Wednesday when they stopped to have lunch at around 12:45 p.m. Hill's shotgun accidentally fired, and hit a nearby truck, and the metal pellets ricocheted into Post.
DNR officials urge hunters to be vigilant and exercise muzzle control of their firearm to prevent accidents.
