Trial set for C.R. man accused of striking baby

CEDAR RAPIDS - The child endangerment trial of a Cedar Rapids man accused of striking a baby in the head multiple times is set for March 5 in Linn County District Court.
Nicholas R. Watson, 23, is accused of hitting his girlfriend's 10-month-old boy on at least three occasions, causing a skull fracture and bruising, the criminal complaint says.
Linn County Attorney Jerry Vander Sanden has said police were notified about bruises on the boy Nov. 4 by an employee at the Hawkeye Area Community Action Program.
If convicted, Watson faces up to 50 years in prison.
