No one hurt in Cedar Rapids apartment fire; 11 escape
Eleven people safely escaped a burning apartment building early Tuesday morning.
Crews were called to the scene, at 1638 Third Ave. SE, around 11:50 p.m. Monday. Firefighters arrived to heavy flames, which had spread to multiple floors.
Firefighters said the fire started in a unit after a woman accidentally fell asleep while cooking.
The Red Cross is helping everyone impacted by the fire. No one was injured.
