Don P. (KI) Westphal, 89, died Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at Iowa Veterans Home, Marshalltown, following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 11, at Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Anamosa, with military honors. The Rev. Marty Schuhmacher will officiate at the service.

Surviving are four sons, Gary Westphal, Fountain Valley, Calif., Craig Westphal, Carlsbad, Calif., Chris Westphal, Las Vegas, Nev., and Don Westphal, Orange, Calif.; six grandchildren; and a brother and sister, Arnold and Roma Westphal.
Don Paul Westphal was born Nov. 16, 1926, in Raleigh, N.C., the son of Marvin and Theora Lewis Westphal. Don attended Olin, Iowa, schools. He worked for the Chicago and Milwaukee railroad before he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked as a machinist most of his working career. Don had been a resident of Iowa Veterans Home for the last seven years.
