I didn't see Pitt's truck, so there's a pair of 94s. They were pretty good, right?
I'll update this until kick. No TV show today, just pure information flow, just like I like.
-- We start this morning with the New York Times reporting that Pittsburgh and Syracuse are in talks with the Atlantic Coast Conference. Pitt, of course, is a member of the Big East Conference, and likely will be through the end of the game today at Kinnick Stadium.
That last bit of info is laid on the New Madrid Fault. It's shaky. Iowa will be a Big Ten Conference member, that's solid. Other than that, who knows.
Here's the link to the Times' story.
-- Game-wise, remember the ankle injury outside linebacker Tyler Nielsen sustained on one of the first drives last week? If he's not able to go today, it could be senior Bruce Davis to middle linebacker and sophomore James Morris moving to the outside. Not confirming, just something that could happen.
-- Heard early in the week some noise about redshirts. Don't know what's true, so let's guess. RB Jordan Canzeri? DT Darian Cooper? It's a touchy debate. Of course, the whole RB thing hinges on whether or not Iowa is serious about getting a No. 2 RB in the game. It might not be. It might not be able to afford it. Marcus Coker is one of the central characters of this team. They need him, blemishes and all.
-- Iowa radio guy Gary Dolphin just said changes coming on defense, personnel not sure about scheme. Also, gunners will change on kick cover. They were non-existent last week.
-- The state trooper guy just said on the radio that the two teams traveling from CR "got real close" to each other. Foreshadowing?
-- QBs are out with the TEs.
Of course, TEs have caught just three passes in two games. Here's what Kirk Ferentz said about tight ends at the University of Iowa this summer:
"We'll do whatever we have to," he said, "but we are going to play tight ends, I promise you. Never say never, but I'm pretty sure we'll never drop our tight ends. But I remember getting ready for Penn State in '99. We had three senior tight ends and all of a sudden boom, boom, boom. Friday we're putting in a personnel group that we call three wides."
-- SPECIAL TEAMS CHANGES: Collin Sleeper and Johnny Lowdermilk will be gunners today on kick cover. Lowdermilk is a true freshman. He would be the eighth true frosh to play.
-- DEFENSIVE CHANGES: Dominic Alvis to DE for Lebron Daniel. Thomas Nardo will start at DT. Carl Davis will see some DT. Jordan Bernstine now ahead of Sleeper at SS. Micah Hyde back to CB in place of Greg Castillo. Tanner Miller to FS.
-- B.J. Lowery target date is Penn State. Nolan McMillan not in today but should be able to go next week, according to Rob Brooks, the radio sideline reporter.
-- OK, team drills. Looks like Tyler Nielsen is a go. He lined up and looks as though he's moving well. All other changes mentioned above are happening. Jason White was the No. 2 RB, FWIW.
-- KF is wearing the black mock turtleneck today.
I'll be on Twitter. There's a chat somewhere around here. Enjoy the game.
A pair of 94s. Jared DeVries is on the right; Adrian Clayborn on the left. They were very good.
