Karr, Grace
Grace Karr, 100, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at Virginia Gay Nursing & Rehab from complications of old age. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. Sixth St., Vinton, with the Rev. Greg Collins officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Grace was born Aug. 28, 1909, at Pittsville, Wis., to Bruce and Anna (Petersen) Enfield. She was a member of Faith Independent Baptist Church in Vinton. She was devoted to her family. In her younger days, she loved planting and caring for her garden and she also loved to read.
She is survived by her son, William “Bill” (Nelda) Karr of La Porte City; her daughters, Suzanne (Larry) Kotouc of Garrison and Marion (Lynn) Geiger of Vinton; her daughter-in-law, Kathe Karr of Vinton; 20 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and her brother, Fred (Ruth) Enfield, and sister-in-law, Kay Enfield, both of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sons, Donald F. Karr and Charles “Chuck” Karr; her daughter, Nancy Karr Kruse; her son-in-law, Duane Kruse; her daughter-in-law, Irene Karr; two grandsons, Raymond and John Kruse; and her brother, John Enfield.
