Irving, Agnes Marie
Agnes Marie Irving, 103, died peacefully Friday, May 6, 2011, at the Solon Care Center. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, at St. Wenceslaus Church, with the Rev. Michael Phillips officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church, where a rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Arrangements are with Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Wenceslaus Church, Iowa City Hospice or the Solon Care Center.
Agnes was born Feb. 14, 1908, in Iowa City, the daughter of Henry and Frances (Schintler) Solnar. She was a graduate of City High School. On June 25, 1930, she married Robert Irving in Iowa City. Robert died in 1964.
Agnes was a lifelong member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed flowers and gardening. Agnes was a Cubbie fan and liked Bush's Baked Beans.
Agnes is survived by four children, Kenneth (Alvina) Irving, Jerry Irving and Delores Grauer, all of Iowa City, and Barbara (Kenneth) Greiner of Keota; 16 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Agnes was preceded in death by her husband; her son, James; daughter-in-law, Mary Irving; son-in-law, Don Grauer; and three sisters, Mabel Hulka, Gertrude Seemuth and Marian Lockhart.
